The origin of Yankee Candles Christmas 1969, 16 year old Mike Kittredge is too broke to buy his mother a Christmas present that he decides to melt down some crayons to make her a candle. When finished a neighbour see's the home made gift and convinces him to let him buy it. With small amount of funds he now goes and buys enough crayons to make two candles, one a present for his mother, the other to sell. This was the birth of Yankee Candle.
